The semester examinations are going on virtually now and due to this the higher educational institutions like colleges and universities in TN have gone back to the online mode now. It must be recalled that colleges and universities in TN were reopened in December for UG and PG students.

Information gathered is that the classes could be held for about 2 weeks as the Higher education institutions got permission to conduct online exams for the students. Point is that the timetable varied for the online exams between the institutions as they were asked to conduct the exams as per the local situation.

After the colleges were reopened, only a few students came to the classes. This was mentioned by a senior officer belonging to the higher education department. He then shed light on how certain institutions functioned even without a single student. The colleges were permitted to conduct online classes for the students. It must be noted that the students were asked to appear for the online exams and the classes would start later. This was according to the official.

Poor patronage was the reason why certain colleges (that had completed the online exams) were not reopened. The faculty members were asked to come to the colleges to monitor online examinations.
