The State Council of Educational Research and Training or SCERT has been very busy with the content creation and in the books designing. Truth is that SCERT has got permission from the government of TN to commence bridge courses for the students.

Supplementary learning materials and promotion:

The students have lost more than 7 months of the academic year due to the lockdown done for controlling Covid-19. Now, the bridge course would provide supplementary learning material for these students. The officers were of the view that the chances of classes resuming for students from 1 to 11 who don’t have board exams were remote. He added that those students in the government and in the aided schools in TN have limited knowledge in the subjects due to lack of online classes.

The truth is bridge courses would help these students to acquire knowledge and would help them to get promoted to the next class. This was brought out by a senior official belonging to the school education department. It is worthy to mention that the bridge courses are supplementary learning material which is a shortened form of the subject.  Now, SCERT has been given the work of creating the content and its design. Before finalising the contents, the council officials would seek guidance from the teachers and academicians etc.

The official hinted that after the reopening of the schools the students` promotion to higher classes would be based on the completion of the bridge course. For the sake of all the 27 lakhs students studying in the state run schools in TN, the content would be printed both in Tamil and in English.

Information is the bridge course materials would be first distributed to the teachers before issued to the students. By this, the teachers belonging to the state run schools would be prepared to teach the students.
