Hotels and hospitals to go solar

Representatives of various hostels and hospitals attended the business meet at SRM University that spoke about the need to generate solar power. The meet was organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to talk about the positives of its latest project that involves the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Fund (GEF).
The project, which targets eight states in the country, will take five years. It started in April 2012 and is scheduled to end in March 2017. ‘Tamil Nadu has shown great interest in this initiative. This being the third campaign in Tamil Nadu, the State has already come up with nearly 45 project ideas. Out of this, we are looking to approve at least 20’, said Joint Director of World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE) Sudhir Kumar.
