Public has been finding it very difficult when they pass through the stretch between CMBT and Thirumangalam junction in Chennai. This important stretch with lots of bumps has been creating many issues.  It must be noted that the dilapidated road along with flyover under construction plus sounds of motorists etc make lives miserable for the public.

In the month of December 2020 itself works on the flyover at Koyambedu should have got completed but it is not. This flyover is being built at a cost of Rs 93.5 crores.

An officer belonging to the state Highways Department expressed his views regarding the flyover. He stated that the work would be over by the month of February.

Reason for the delay:

The official later explained about the reasons for the delay in the completion of the flyover work and said the heavy rains in December and unseasonal rains in January were responsible for the delay.

A resident belonging to Chinmaya Nagar mentioned that in the past there was direct access to Kaliamman Road from the junction and how travelling further and taking U turn is required now.  The motorists heading towards Anna Nagar, Avadi, Padi and Arumbakkam have been finding it tough now. The issues faced by the residents have been understood and the flyover works would be completed at the earliest. This was pointed out by the official belonging to the Highways Department. He explained that the soil is wet now and this has been creating issues in the ramp laying. Apart from this, another issue faced by the department is the traffic.

The officer later spoke about how the flyover works start around midnight and how they go on till 4am in the morning when there is scarce traffic. He assured that the works would be completed by the end of January.
