Shift systems and classes on alternate days:

The schools could accommodate just 25 students in the classes and there must be a distance of 6 feet between the students. This was as per the Covid-19 protocol. For this purpose, schools have planned shift systems plus classes on alternate days etc.

It is now said that the colleges in Chennai city would be reopening for the students of first and second year UG courses plus for the first year of PG courses in a phased manner. There would not be more than 50percent students. Mr G. J. Manohar, principal of Chennai based highly popular MCC Higher secondary school said that there would be a shift system for the students belonging to the classes 9 and 11. He hinted that classes for the 10 and 12 students would be held between 8:15 am to 12:40 pm and for classes for the 9and 11 would be between 1pm to 4:30 pm in the evening.

Information collected is that government schools having bigger student strength would be conducting classes on the alternate days. It was revealed by head mistress of Jaigopal Garodia Government Girls Higher Secondary school, P. Shanthi that 30 additional classrooms would be needed to follow Covid-19 protocols. To reduce the burden of the teachers, physical classes for the classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 students would be conducted on alternate days.

Auditoriums, halls and other open places would be used as classrooms to teach the students belonging to classes 9 and 11. This would be in the Tambaram based ZION Matriculation Higher Secondary School. This was mentioned by this school senior principal Mr. N. Vijayan.

As per Mr. P. Swaminathan, secretary of SRV Schools in Trichy and Namakkal it was clear that by Sunday 90% of the class 11 hostel students have come back(90 students out of total 108 students) . He added that on Monday more than 100 hostel students would be attending the classes.

For the purpose of maintaining social distancing, the students would be admitted to the campuses of colleges and universities in a staggered manner. Chennai based Loyola College would be reopening its campus in a phased manner for the students of first year and second year of UG courses and for the first year of PG courses. It is well known that on 7th December the colleges have reopened for the final year students in TN.
