The college going students in Chennai have now got a superb piece of news to rejoice!!

Just a few days back, it was brought out that the college students in Chennai were unhappy regarding the suburban trains frequency and how the lack of trains was the reason behind them reaching late to their classes.

The news is that the Southern Railways or SR has decided to remove curbs on travel in the peak hours and would be allowing the college students to travel by workmen special trains in Chennai from 15th of February 2021.

On Thursday, 11th February, a note approved by the GM and issued by the commercial department of SR mentioned that the students studying in various colleges could travel at any time of the day in the workmen special trains without any peak hour restrictions in place for the common public.

The note also pointed out that the official at the ticket counters of railway stations would issue the tickets to the students after they produce ID cards that were issued by their colleges. The railways department officials have been asked to carry out random checks to test the genuineness of the ID cards produced by the students with the college authorities.
