On Saturday, three major infrastructure projects were opened in Chennai and its suburbs for the public. The projects that were opened were one arm of Keelkattalai flyover, a portion of skywalk-cum-foot-over-bridge in Tambaram and Pinjivakkam Bridge in Tiruvallur etc.

The time travel from OMR to Tambaram would be reduced by 10 minutes by means of the first above mentioned project. An amount of Rs 29.5 crores has been used to build the first project located on the Pallavaram- Thoraipakkam Radial Road. At Echangadu, the traffic congestion would be reduced by the 3-lane flyover of 700m wide. The traffic flow below this flyover has been slow as the construction of the other arm of the flyover is continuing. The dust due to the gravel laid for construction work has been causing issues for the motorists here.

Point is that the bridge in Tambaram connects the railway station with the bus terminus on the other side of GST Road. Information is that this Rs 9.6 crores structure has got 2 sets of elevators, ramps, security cameras, public address systems for the officers to make announcements on bus and train timings. To reduce the traffic congestion due to trucks and buses, Pinjivakkam Bridge has been built across Cooum near Kandigai and an amount of Rs 10.3crores has been spent on this.

The chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswamy also inaugurated 7 other projects in places like Trichy, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Madurai, Theni, Cuddalore and Nilgiris etc. Recently, the state highways department caught the attention of many when it approved construction of ROB in Chengalpet district near Melmaruvathur for preventing road accidents. It is now revealed that the bridge would be constructed and the existing railway crossing between Acharapakkam and Pakkam villages would be closed on the Cheyyur- Polur Road. Under the Railways Work programme on a cost sharing basis with the southern railways, construction would take place.
