The vaccination for Covid-19 has been going in various places in Tamil Nadu is well known to us.
On Monday, 15th February 2021, Tamil Nadu vaccinated as many as 21,645 persons and just 3782 or 30% came forward to take a second shot of the vaccine. It is known that Tamil Nadu had vaccinated as many as 269,017 persons with the first dose and 4936 persons with both the vaccine doses. Point is that the fresh or new Covid-19 cases that were reported in Tamil Nadu yesterday were 455. As many as 477 persons got discharged after treatment. Currently, as many as 845,575 5persons have been affected by this deadly infection.
Information is that there are 663 vaccination centers in Tamil Nadu and the state had the capacity to vaccinate 89847 persons but just 24% of beneficiaries turned up to get vaccinated. A British Journal has mentioned that the delay in getting vaccination might increase efficacy and due to this there is now some hesitancy among the healthcare workers to get the second shot.
It was revealed by Mr. J. Radhakrishnan, health secretary of Tamil Nadu that the nation’s policy of giving the second dose in a 28 day interval was based on the scientific evidence and the expert’s opinion. Yesterday, he took the second vaccination shot at RGGGH in Chennai. The backlog is still very high inspite of the high number of people vaccinated in Chennai. He spoke about how the Centre has permitted vaccines to roll out for the deputed officers and for those who are engaged in the poll activities etc.
Point is that their names would be added to the Cowid portal soon. On Monday, except the districts like Perambalur and Tiruvannamalai, other districts had fresh cases. Two deaths were reported in Chennai district and 2 from Trichy district. There were as many as 143 news Covid-19 cases in Chennai.
