Vellore based Thiruvalluvar University is now making news for wrong reasons!!

Some months back, the court had struck down the TN state government’s directive of granting the arrear students a pass with minimum marks in all their arrear subjects.

The students belonging to the Tiruvallur University had appeared for their arrear papers on Wednesday. It is now brought to light that some students who had 4 arrears wrote their arrear exams for 12 hours without any break in between. Help of the scribes was sought after by the students to finish their exams as each paper was of 3 hours of duration.

Many students appeared for their arrear exams at their colleges despite providing the choice of writing exams either at their homes or at the colleges. A student who appeared for arrear at the college said that the answer sheets would have to be submitted to the teachers for the teachers to upload the marks. He explained how by coming to the college for writing the arrears exam would save the trouble of looking out for the teacher.

It is learnt that the arrear examinations would continue till 21st February without a break even on Sundays for UG/PG papers including majors, electives and human rights (excluding MCA) arrears must be written between Wednesday and Friday. By 21st of February, all major, elective and human rights papers for MCA have to be completed.

There were many complaints from students as well from the teachers regarding 12 hours of writing arrears without a break. Many arrear students were unhappy regarding the fees they have to pay again. It is now revealed that the authorities have been asked not to insist on the fee amount from the students. This was according to an official. He hinted that the university might demand a fee amount when the degree certificates have to be issued.
