Namma Chennai Smart Card - Procedure to Pay Tax, Online Bills

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy launched the Ru-Pay-powered `Namma Chennai Smart Card` on 23rd February (Tuesday) in the Chennai Metro City.

This new cards will serve as a multi-purpose card for citizens, providing a one-stop solution for making various kind of payments in the city and across the country. ICICI Bank partnered with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and Chennai Smart City Limited (CSCL) for the launch of the Namma Chennai Smart Card.
It is a Ru-Pay powered co-branded, contactless prepaid card, which will facilitate various digital payments like tax and utility bill payments at the GCC centres.
The prepaid card also facilitates retail payments within Chennai as well as in retail stores and e-commerce websites across the country.
This will offer a common payment card platform to residents for making payments for various services within the city.
Facilities & Features
With the ‘Namma Chennai Smart Card`, users will be able to avail of the following services:
Payments at Greater Chennai Corporation centres:
Users can use the card to make tax or utility bill payments at the Greater Chennai Corporation centres. This facility will be available in a few weeks.
Shop online and at stores:
With the help of this card, users can purchase goods from retail stores, pay for movie tickets, dine and shop online on e-commerce websites across the country.
Manage card online:
The card is backed by various features such as card block/unblock, activation, pin-reset etc. Users can manage and avail these features on the dedicated customer portal - https://smartcity.icicibank.com/customer/customerportal?pagename=namma. Users will also be able to reload the card digitally through the UPI on the customer portal or the iSmart City app.

Users will also get discount offers on the card throughout the year, which will be available in the next few days on the ICICI Bank`s website.
Where You Can Get Namma Chennai Smart Card:
Users can get the card issued and topped-up at the Greater Chennai Corporation Main office at Ripon Building in Park Town and Greater Chennai Corporation Zone 10 office at Kodambakkam, in Chennai. This facility will soon be extended to more than 200 Greater Chennai C Corporation centres in the city.
