The students belonging to the classes 9 to 11 in TN would feel delighted on hearing this!!
As the teachers would be deployed for the election duties, the TN government is thinking of announcing annual holidays for the students from classes 9 to 11. It is known that as per the order from the TN government these students are already promoted to higher classes without examination.
It is revealed that more than a lakh teachers have been identified district wise to be appointed as zonal, presiding and return officers, expenditure officials for the upcoming elections in April. The truth is that the teachers would also be given training for poll related activities. This would make them unavailable at the schools for academic purposes.
The school education department had received many requests from parents and teachers for declaring summer holidays for the students of classes 9 to 11. This was mentioned by a senior officer belonging to the school education department. He explained that following the suggestions the authorities discussed whether to declare holidays from the month of April as the teachers have been asked to complete the portions as quickly as possible.
It must be noted that most teachers deputed for election duties would be from high schools and hence it would be tough to maintain SOP ‘sand ensure Covid-19 protocols in the schools.
Information gathered is that the authorities were concerned about the summer infections like measles and chicken pox in addition to the water borne diseases spreading to the students.
