The point is that most of the commercial establishments here do not adhere to the Covid-19 protocols and the need to enforce strict protocols has arisen now.

A letter written by Mr. B. Kannan, T. Nagar Residents Welfare Association to the TN health secretary Mr. J. Radhakrishnan stated that most shoppers who come to the shops and to the commercial establishments in T. Many T. Nagar residents faced hardships when the pandemic was at its peak a few months back as most of the streets were closed here. This led to lots of issues for the residents. It added that if the protocols were not followed by the public and commercial establishments then they must be penalised.

It is worth mentioning here that Kodambakkam zone in which Usman Zone falls has now got the second highest number of Covid-19 active cases in Chennai. On Wednesday morning, this zone had 230 active cases and this was according to the data from the GCC. Some parts of T. Nagar also comes under the Teynampet Zone that has got 257 active cases now.
