Inspite of GCC has been taking many efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection in Chennai, the public are not serious about the deadly infection and the number of cases has increased.
Now, there would be flying squads in Chennai that would catch those who violate the Covid-19 protocols like wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing etc. This was mentioned by the health secretary Mr. J. Radhakrishnan on Thursday. The number of fresh or new Covid-19 cases went to 685 yesterday. The total number of persons who got affected by this infection is 8576917 now.
Truth is that in the past 1 week, there were 4139 fresh cases and as many as 27 passed away due to this infection. Just a week back, TN was reporting around 485 cases but now it is reporting around 700 cases. Mr. J. Radhakrishnan was of the view that clusters in the family get together plus in the weddings and funerals has been the factors that has increased the Covid-19 infections. Poor adherence to face masks has pushed up the Coronavirus cases now.
Information is that in the last 6 months over 14.5 lakhs of people were fined and an amount of Rs 13.74 crores was collected as penalty from them. The health secretary hinted that flying squads would be deployed to impose fines on those who violate pandemic protocols.
It is shocking to note that the Coronavirus cases have increased alarmingly in the states like Maharashtra and Punjab and this might happen in TN also if people are not careful. Some officials have found private labs and doctors failing to notify the Covid-19 cases to the health department on time. It is now revealed that the labs would be sealed and clinical licences would be cancelled if found violating norms. On Thursday, 32313 people above the age of 60 and 22,045 above the age of 45 took vaccination.
