Currency Notes of Rs. 2000/- denomination have not been printed over the last 2 years!

Joint Minister of Finance Anurag Thakur has informed that the currency notes of Rs. 2000/- the denomination has NOT been printed over the last 2 years.
While responding to a question raised by the Member of Parliament of Erode (Tamil Nadu) Constituency, Ganesamurthy, the central Joint Minister of Finance responded as above in a written format, The minister further mentioned that very few currency notes of Rs. 2000/- denomination are in circulation. They are not available in banks or ATMs.
While replying to the question raised in the parliament in the written format as above, after the demonetization during the year 2016, currency notes of Rs. 2000/- denomination were not printed during the financial years 2019-20 & 2020-21.
