Many vehicle users found it very difficult when they travelled on the flyover at Thirumangalam on Jawaharlal Salai. The reason for that was due to a protruding steel rod. This issue has been repaired now by the state highways department.

It must be noted that the joint (length of steel that comes between 2 spans of flyover) had been jutting above the bituminous tar layer following damage to the tar. According to sources, many vehicles have been using this flyover and this has led to wear and tear leading to the protrusion of the steel rod. In the next week, the department would be replacing the joint and temporary repair has been done as of now. The state highways department has sought permission from the traffic police now to close this flyover for a time of 2 days for doing maintenance works. Truth is that permission has not been granted as the service lane below has also been closed due to work related to water leak.

It was brought out by another source that just recently the service lane was reopened for traffic. Police personnel mentioned that due to the protrusion of steel rod many motorists were left with flat tyres. Riding at high speeds in the flyover would be highly dangerous.
