This has set the alarming bells ringing. It is known that TRP indicates the spread of the Covid-19 infection.

Mr Prakash then threw light on the 3 major points of action that would be implemented in Chennai to control Covid-19 infection. There would be a fever clinic in 100 top hotspot locations in Chennai city, 1000 focus volunteers would be brought for ensuring essentials to reach those under home isolation and stop them from venturing out, door-to-door visit by fever survey workers etc.

It must be remembered that in the months of May and June in 2020, the TPR in Chennai was as high as 33pecent for some days in the first Covid wave. The testing numbers were increased by the GCC and this led to a decrease in TPR to around 19% and then to 15% in February -early March time period.

Currently, Anna Nagar zone has 928 active cases and it is the zone with highest number of active cases out of the 15 GCC zones.
