Resurgent coronavirus spreading fast! GCC takes important decisions to keep this in check!

There has been a persistently increasing trend in the number of citizens confirmed with the resurgent coronavirus infection and under treatment!

In all the government hospitals in the Chennai Metro City, treatment is available for the coronavirus infection.

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has now decided to increase the number of beds in these hospitals as there has been a persistent increase in the number of patients infected daily!

Accordingly, GCC has decided to allot beds for the patients need ing intensive treatment. Similarly, a decision has been taken by GCC to allot beds in the smaller hospitals for those citizens affected with the coronavirus infection and needing oxygen,

In the prevention measure, a decision has been taken to admit coronavirus patients without any symptoms to allot beds in schools and colleges.

As such, 11775 beds have been arranged in the locations such as Anna University, Chennai University, and Ambedkar Arts College.

It may be noted that a similar procedure was adopted during the 1st wave of the coronavirus pandemic last year.

Until now, 90% of beds have got filled in the Chennai Metro City Omandurar Hospital. In a similar vein, out of the 1618 beds available in the Chennai Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital, 650 beds have been occupied!

In the other 5 government hospitals in the Chennai Metro City, more than 50% of beds are occupied!

For the above reasons, the senior officials of the Great Chennai Corporation has decided to follow the ‘3-tier treatment’ method!
