The residents of Chennai are now having worries that after testing positive for Covid-19 infection they are getting little or no guidance from the authorities.
Just 10 days back, a resident belonging to Anna Nagar was visited by the authorities belonging to GCC after she had tested positive for Coronavirus infection. The authorities then pasted stickers in her house and she was told to contact them whenever she needed any help. Point is that she was not taken for screening.
Her husband spoke about how she was told by the authorities to consult government doctors. It must be noted that after her fever did not subside even after 5 days she was advised to get a CT scan. He finally confirmed that the corporation staff did not show any interest as they did not follow her up.
It was brought out by another resident of Gopalapuram in Chennai that after testing positive both she and her mother were taking immunosuppressants and called Covid helpline. She later threw light on how they were asked to call 108 for an ambulance and get themselves admitted.
Truth is that the corporation had called them just twice. First time was to trace the contracts and the second time was to know about who recommended them for getting admitted into King Institute. Till the end, the sanitary inspector did not pick her calls at all. Such type of incidents might be exceptions and this was as per a corporation officer. He spoke about how the volunteers and the sanitary inspectors generally help positive patients.
