The TN government had imposed night curfew on week days and full curfew on Sundays to control Covid-19 infection is well known to us.

On Tuesday, members of TN Theatre Owners Association decided to continue to operate the cinema theatres despite this night curfew. On 25th April, Sunday, the cinema theatres would not function as it would be the first Sunday with a full day curfew. At present, theatres have been showing 4 shows per day and it is now said that the number of shows in a day would be reduced to three. This would be due to the night curfew.

Popular film distributor and exhibitor, Mr, Tiruppur Subramanian expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how the theatres have been kept running inspite of the night curfew and Sunday curfew.

He added that the association has been waiting for the new government for the sake of solution to their issues. He concluded that the theatres in TN would be managing their shows because the films have been released already.

The upcoming film titled ‘MGR Magan’ with actors Sathyaraj and Sasikumar would not be released on Friday due to the curfew and it has been postponed. Industry sources have hinted that another new film named ‘Doctor of actor Sivakarthikeyan that was tentatively planned for 13th May release would also be postponed.

Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram of Mayajaal Complex, Chennai explained that the new set of restrictions would stop producers from releasing new films. He later shed light on Sundays that would get maximum collections apart from the first 3 days of the film release.
