Covid-19 echo: Southern Railway announces major changes in Chennai suburban train schedule

Southern Railway WILL NOT OPERATE suburban trains in Chennai Metro City after 10.00 PM and will operate only bare minimum services on Sundays as the State Government of Tamil Nadu has imposed lockdown restriction during nights and all Sundays as a preventive measure against the raging and fast & wide-spreading resurgent coronavirus pandemic.
Only 434 suburban trains will operate on Sundays and instead of the normal weekday 700 services!
There will be 50 services on the MMC-Arkonam route, 64 services on the MMC-Gummidipundi route, 68 services on the Chennai Beach-Velacherry route, and 152 services on the Chennai Beach-Tambaram route.
On Sundays, only 86 suburban trains will be operated. 32 services will be on the MMC-Arkonam route, 24 services on the MMC-Sulurpettai route, 12 services on the Chennai Beach-Velacherry route, and 18 services on the Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu route.
