Centre issues a warning: Cyclone Yaas: Alert in Odisha, Bengal - IMD says cyclonic storm to form by Monday!

As per the recent incidents - even as India’s western coast battles the aftermath of Cyclone Tauktae that ravaged Gujarat and Maharashtra, there is news that another cyclonic storm, Cyclone Yaas, is closing in on the eastern coast!

The Centre has issued warnings for both Odisha and West Bengal ahead of the cyclonic storm’s projected impact on 26th May.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest update, has said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal today (Saturday, 22nd May), which is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday, 24th May.

The latest bulletin issued by IMD, released yesterday night (Friday, 21st May) indicates that the probability of formation of a depression over the next 72-120 hours over the Bay of Bengal is high!

Cyclone Yaas Tracking: IMD has said a low pressure will form over the Bay of Bengal today, which is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday. Alert has been sounded in Odisha and West Bengal.
