The Thirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) has decided to close the mountainous path located at Tirupathi-Alibiri for the devotees who visit Tirupathi by undertaking the journey on foot for a period of 2 months.
A large number of devotees undertake the visit to Tirupathi temple by foot via the path located at Tirupathi-Alibiri. Amenities such as a roof over the path, drinking water, toilet, etc., have been set up. However, since the roof is very old, it has damaged considerably in several places.
The well-known company Reliance has undertaken the contract work to repair the roof throughout the distance! This repair work has been in progress at Alibiri over the last 1 year.
Though the repair work was in progress, the devotees were still being allowed to undertake their journey by foot on this route!
As the number of devotees undertaking the visit to Tirupathi temple by foot has reduced considerably due to the prevailing raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic, TTD has been trying to expedite the roofing repair work being done by Reliance.
Hence, TTD has decided to close the Alibiri route from 1st June until 31st July!
Thirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam Board has planned to complete all the pending works on this project within these 2 months’ closure.
TTD has announced that the devotees who still desire to undertake the visit to Tirupathi temple by foot can do so by taking the Srivarimettu road.
