Various tips or ways to maintain oral health of the babies are
Proving babies with small amount of water:
Parents must do this compulsorily. After every feeding session, water must be given to the babies and by this all germs present in the mouth would be washed away.
Regular teeth check - ups:
To keep the cavities away, it is essential that periodic check-up of teeth must be carried out for the baby. Parents must make an appointment with the dentist as soon as the baby first gets its teeth in his or her mouth. It is known that babies get their teeth when they are between 6 to 10 months.
Cleaning mouth daily:
It is essential to wipe the gums and tongue of the baby every time after feeding. This must be done even when the baby’s mouth does not have any teeth also.
Care to be taken after giving sweet medicines:
It must be noted that the medicines of babies are sweet to taste. To reduce the risk of cavities, parents must clean the mouth of the babies after giving medicines.
Do not put baby to bed with bottle:
Bottle filled with milk or juice must not be given to the baby when it is put on the bed. It is believed that the sugar present in the milk or juice would stick to the teeth leading to tooth decay.
Never taste babys bottle having food:
It is important to mention that dental decay is a transmissible disease and parents must not test the temperature of the baby’s bottle with their mouth.
