It is learnt that the government of TN has now made arrangements to ensure that the transfer certificate of TC is not compulsory for the students to get admission in the government schools. It must not be forgotten that some private institutions have been refusing to provide TC for the students who wanted to join the government schools in TN.
In the state of Tamil Nadu, new admissions in the government and government aided schools have increased drastically. The reason for that was due to many parents incurring financial loss because of the Coronavirus pandemic and they have resorted to send their kids to TN run government schools.
At the high school level while changing from one institution to another, students must produce transfer certificates. This was as per the admission rules in the government schools in TN.
Last week admission to the government schools began in TN and many complaints have emerged regarding parents not getting TC from self financing institutions.
In the past, TC was needed to get admission to government elementary and middle school levels. Now following these complaints, it is mentioned that TC is not needed for the students in the high school levels to join TN run government schools. This was according to a senior official belonging to the school education department.
For admissions into the government schools in TN, only Aadhar numbers are needed now. By using Aadhaar numbers, details of students could be taken from the EMIS or Education Management Information System. It is known that EMIS is a common online platform connecting schools, teachers and students. He concluded that even a student`s EMIS number is sufficient to get admission.
It must be noted that an extra option has been provided in the EMIS so that all the details of the students could be downloaded and printed through students Aadhaar number or EMIS number.
Information collected is that the district education authorities have been taking measures to take action against private schools that denied TC issuance for the students.
