If you had thought that the reopening of temples and permission given for weddings would have brought happiness in the lives of the flower traders of Koyambedu, then you are wrong!!
The flower traders had huge hopes of revival of their livelihood when the TN government announced additional relaxations with reopening of temples and permission given for weddings etc. The traders did not get benefitted and they have urged the government to extend the time to get more customers in the evening.
It was pointed out by Mr. Mookandi, secretary, Koyambedu Flower Merchants Association that their flower business had remained dull for more than 2 months. He added that there were no improvements despite the additional relaxations announced recently.
It must be noted that the vegetables and fruit markets were able to sell their commodities by vehicles in the lockdown. The business of the flower market has been down without any support.
