It has become a common sight to see roads in Chennai in pathetic condition after the rains.

In the areas near Madipakkam like Ram Nagar, Srinivasa Nagar etc last week rain has exposed the battered condition of roads. As a result, motorists and pedestrians have been finding it tough to commute.

At several locations in Madipakkam, the internet service providers and government agencies have dug up the roads. It was mentioned by a resident of Ram Nagar that craters on the roads were dangerous for the motorists when it rains. He added that the artificial pits in the roads here were not barricaded and were dangerous.

Residents of Kuberan Nagar spoke about how in the rainy times neighbourhoods like Ram Nagar, Kuberan Nagar etc get submerged under water. There are many vacant plots that have been submerged under water even now. The mosquitoes breed easily in these vacant plots. Despite many representations, Arivoli Street here has remained battered for many years. No action has been taken to set things right.

Some residents have pointed out that the metro water filling station at Puzhuthivakkam has led to frequent use of Ram Nagar and Srinivasa Nagar leading to denting on the roads. The fast speeds of water tankers create huge issues for the motorists.
