Learning through online might not be enough at the college level and the Chennai colleges now are highly concerned regarding the fresher’s about this only!!

It is known that the students of class 12 have been studying online as the schools were closed due to Covid-19 pandemic infection in TN. Information collected is that to fill in the gap in the online learning process , the colleges in Chennai have been planning for a 2 weeks bridge course for the fresher’s. This would help the first year students to fresh up the basic concepts they learnt in class 12 before ushering them to the 2021-22 syllabus.

It is learnt that the colleges have urged the TN government to give permission to conduct offline bridge courses while following the Covid-19 protocols. From 26th July 2021 onwards, online application and admission process would start.

According to the principal of Loyola College, Mr. Thomas Amirtham, bridge course is very much the need of the hour for the first year students to quickly revise the class 12 syllabus. He was of the view that without teaching the fundamentals in the bridge course the students would have difficulty in understanding if the syllabus was taught directly.

The principal of D.G. Vaishnav College, Mr. S. Santhosh Babu spoke about how the college has been planning to refresh both new students as well as the existing students as they have undergone just online mode of learning in the past year. It was brought out by Mr Paul Wilson, principal of Madras Christian College, that conducting bridge courses online would not be meaningful.
