To maintain social distancing in the labs and hostels, Anna University or AU would begin physical classes for the final year UG and PG students in a phased manner from 1st September. Depending on the Coronavirus infection situation, classes for the other year students would be scheduled.

It was pointed out by an officer from AU that the campuses at MIT, AC tech and CEG would give preference to practical and lab courses. All the final year students in UG and PG courses must report for readmission on 31st August and a notification has been issued by CEG.

It must be noted that the higher education department had asked the engineering colleges to conduct physical classes for the students of second, third and final year on rotation basis. Standard operating procedures of SOP must be strictly followed. It was mentioned by some professors that conducting physical classes for all the students at the same time would not be possible as many stay in the hostels. It is now said that the theory classes would continue online for the students for some more time. Important piece of information is that there are 4000 students at 15 hostels at CEG and 1500 students at 10 hostels at MIT Chromepet.
