More drinking water to be supplied to Chennai now!!

Just a few weeks back, the metro water department or CMWSSB made news when they increased the drinking water supply to Chennai city. Now, the metro water department has further increased the drinking water supply by 40MLD per day. On Friday, 941 MLD of water was supplied to the Chennai residents and this was according to the data released by the metro water department.
It must be taken into account that out of 941 MLD 901MLd was regular supply done using pipelines and stones etc. Point is that around 40 MLD was supplied for industrial purposes, bulk consumers etc. It must not be forgotten that during the same day in 2020 just 700 MLD of water was supplied to Chennai.
From the previous supply of 850 MLD per day, the metro water department had increased the daily water supply to 900 MLD on 15th August 2021. For several days, the same amount of water supply continued. The lakes in the Chennai city have got more than 70% of storage and due to this fact CMWSSB has increased the daily supply to 900 MLD. This was according to the metro water department.
On Friday, the 5 lakes that supply drinking water to Chennai had 9182 mcft of water and it was more than 50% higher than the storage that was recorded on the same day in 2020. This was as per the data from the metro water department. It is learnt that the 5 lakes had just 4142 mcft of water on the same day in 2020.
