Schools reopened in TN - Students and teachers test COVID positive now!!

After remaining closed for a long time, from 1st September the schools have reopened for the students of classes 9 to 12 in the state of Tamil Nadu. The reopening of schools might not only bring happiness for the students but it could also lead to Covid infection in the students.

The news that has come out now is that atleast 3 students and 3 teachers have tested Covid-19 positive in the state. This was informed by Mr. M. Subramanian, health minister of TN. He added that to prevent any further outbreaks, contact tracing would be carried out on each of them. The health minister then spoke about how the Tamil Nadu government would urge the union government to allow Covid-19 vaccination for kids above 12 years.

It must be noted that a secondary grade teacher belonging to Cuddalore who had taken both the vaccination doses were amongst the teachers who have got this infection. Information is that in Ariyalur district 2 students have tested Covid-19 positive and they are kept under observation.  The students were thermally scanned for the Coronavirus infection after the schools resumed again.

A class 12 girl student of Andimadam in Ariyalur district tested Covid-19 positive and she is now under the treatment at the general hospital in Jayamkondan. In Namakkal district also a class 10 student tested Covid-19 positive and she has been isolated. It must be noted that the health department officers have collected the swabs of others who were in contact with the infected person.

It is known that in Coimbatore district the Coronavirus cases are on the rise. This has made the health officials to be alert regarding the infection spread among the school students. Till now, no Covid-19 clusters have been reported in the educational institutions etc. Health officials were confused regarding the increase in the Covid-19 cases in Coimbatore now.
