With the approaching festival of Vinayaka Chathurthi, and the auspicious wedding day – Subha Muhurtham Day -, the prices of flowers and pooja items have gone up substantially!
On the fast-approaching occasion of the hugely popular Hindu Festival Vinayaka Chathurthi (tomorrow, Friday, 10th September) and the day of Subha Muhurtham is considered an auspicious day for weddings, etc., the traders, as well as the public, have been buying large quantities of fruits, flowers and pooja items!
The prices of these items have shot up like never before!
As such,
- Arugampul is sold at Rs. 50/- per bunch!
- Hanging Decorations – ‘thoranama’ in Tamil – are sold at Rs. 20/- per streak!
- Mango leaves are sold at Rs. 10/- per bunch!
- Lotus flower is sold at Rs. 20/- per piece!
As regards flowers,
- Jasmine is sold at Rs. 1200/- per kg! Rose varieties are sold at Rs. 200/- to– Rs. 300/-.
- Golden Champa – ‘Saamangi poo’ in Tamil – is sold at Rs. 1800/- per kg.
- Arabian jasmine, Tuscan jasmine, Sambac jasmine – known as ‘Mullai’ in Tamil, is sold at Rs. 500/- per kg.
As the arrival of the quantity of lowers has been quite substantial, the traders inform that the prices have NOT GONE UP to a large extent!
