The motorists travelling through Koyambedu could now feel delighted by this latest news regarding the flyover at Koyambedu!!
The news is that construction of a new flyover at the Kaliamman Koil Junction at Koyambedu in Chennai has been completed. This flyover would be opened for the public by the end of the month of September. An amount of Rs 93.5 crores has been used to build this 1.3km bidirectional flyover with 2 lanes on each side.
It was pointed out by a senior official belonging to the State Highways that the works for building approach ramps was completed and lights were being installed.
Truth is that once the bridge is thrown open then the motorists going towards Vadapalani from Thirumangalam, Padi and Arumbakkam would be able to skip the highly congested Kaliamman Koil Junction and CMBT at Koyambedu. It must be noted that the vehicles from Padi and Thirumangalam would have to take a U turn under the flyover or bridge to enter Kaliamman Koil Road to reach Koyambedu market and Virugambakkam.
In the year 2015, the flyover at Koyambedu was proposed to avoid traffic congestions and the civic works for that began in August 2017. The flyover works should have been completed in 2018 itself but got delayed.
