From now on, crowded locations in Chennai will be monitored strictly by newly formed static teams!!

As many as 123 locations in the city of Chennai have been identified by the police department and GCC and these locations would be monitored closely from now on.

It is learnt that the Chennai police and GCC have associated with each other and they have formed 123 static teams to monitor crowding and ensure adherence to SOP for Covid-19 safety.

According to Mr Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Chennai corporation commissioner, 123 crowding points were identified jointly by police as well as the civic body. From Friday onwards, 3 fever surveillance workers and policemen have begun monitoring each of these crowding points. Those persons who violate the rules would be fined by the static teams.

According to Mr. Vishnu Mahajan, Chennai corporation deputy commissioner (Revenue and Finance), the number of persons who have been fined daily have gone up from 300 to 800-1000.In various places in Chennai city, GCC and police have monitored crowds using cameras.

The crowding points have also been monitored by the personnel at the integrated Command and Control Centre. It is now said that the civic agency has now prepared another list of locations.

Various important crowding locations in Chennai are Ranganathan Street in T. Nagar, N.S.C. Bose Road, Mint Street, Luz Corner, Spencer Plaza Junction, Royapettah clock tower, Ritchie Street, Mylapore ,MRTS, Egmore railway station, Villivakkam bus stand, Kellys Junction. Chetpet Signal plus others like Vadapalani bus stand, Panaiyur Junction, Porur Junction, Jeenis Road, Annai Velankanni Church etc. In various marriage halls in Chennai, as many as 5558 inspections were conducted and atleast 443 violations were identified.
