It must be noted that in the last week Tomatoes were sold for Rs 50 per 3kgs, onions were sold for Rs 100 per 3kgs. Yesterday, one kg of tomatoes was sold for Rs 40 and a kilogram of Onion was sold for Rs 40. Jasmine was sold for Rs 500, mullai for Rs 350, samandhi or marigold for Rs 150, kanakambaram for Rs 600 and rose for Rs 150. It must be taken into note that in Uthiramerur peanuts plus others like various fruits, pumpkins etc were accumulated for sale purpose.
In fancy stores here, there are many decorative poses, plastic flowers, garlands etc kept for sale purpose. In Uthiramerur circle, the growth of pumpkins has been superb and due to this small pumpkins were sold for Rs 20 per kg and big ones for Rs 50 per kg.
Marigold flower cost has increased in Tiruttani as Ayudha poojai, Vijaya Dasami and Purattasi Saturday are coming one after the other now. The samanthi flower last week was Rs 45 to Rs 60 per kilo and now the cost has shot up and Samadhi was sold yesterday for Rs 150 to Rs 200 per kilo. It is learnt that a dozen bananas were sold for Rs 60, coconut for Rs 25 to Rs 50 etc.
