Collectors decide to open water from Chembarambakkam and Puzhal water reservoirs! Flood Warning issued!

Due to the persistent heavy rains over the last few days, the major water resources for Chennai Metro City, Chembarambakkam and Puzhal, have been filling up fast!

As such, it has been decided to let water out from these 2 water reservoirs.

The District Collector of Thiruvallur, Alby John Varghese has warned the citizens of the coastal areas of Thiruvallur district to be cautious of this!

Due to the persistent heavy rains over the last few days in Chennai Metro City, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur, all the water reservoirs, especially the lakes in these areas have been filling quite rapidly!

The most important water resources of Chembarambakkam and Puzhal have been filling very rapidly. As such, a decision has been taken to release water from these 2 reservoirs.

In a notification released in this regard by the District Collector of Thiruvallur, Alby John, it is mentioned:

“As water inflow to the Puzhal reservoir has increased considerably, it has been decided to release water from this reservoir at 11.00 AM today (Sunday, 7th November).

As such, the citizens of the coastal areas in this district are warned to move to safer places!”

In a similar notification released by the Kanchipuram District Collector, it is mentioned:

“Water will be released from the Chembarambakkam reservoir today (Sunday, 7th November) from 1.00 PM to 1.30 PM.

As such, the citizens in the areas of  Natham, Kundrathuir, Nandambakkam, Vazhuthalambedu, Poonthandalam, Pazhanthandalam, Yerumaiyur, and Thirumudivakkam are requested to be cautious and safe!”
