Prospects for very heavy rains in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Cuddalore: Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there is a cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere from the southeast Bay of Bengal to the Tamil Nadu Coastal area. There are prospects of a new depression zone forming over the South Bay of Bengal tomorrow! This depression zone may intensify in the next 24 hours and drift towards the northwest direction and cross the coast.

As for today (Monday, 8th November), there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains with lightning and thunder in one or 2 places in the districts of Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Puducherry, delta districts, and Karaikkal. There are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Thiruvannamalai, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Dharmapuri, Coimbatore, Karur, Namakkal, Trichy, Sivagangai, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, and Thoothukkudi.

In the remaining districts and Puducherry, there are prospects of widespread medium rains with lightning and thunder.

As regards tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th November), there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains with lightning and thunder in the districts of Thirunelveli, Thenkasi, Theni, Dindigul, Nilgiri, and Coimbatore. There are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Thoothukkudi, Ramanathapuram, Madurai, Cuddalore, Pudhukkottai, delta districts, and Puducherry and Karaikkal.

As regards Chennai Metro City

The sky will generally remain cloddy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild rains in 1 or 2 places in the city and there may be heavy rains in 1 or 2 places.  The maximum temperature maybe 26 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may be24 Degrees Celsius.

Today and tomorrow (Monday, 8th November and Tuesday, 9th November), cyclonic high-speed winds may blow at 40 kmph to 50 kmph and intermittently at 60 kmph in the southeast Bay of Bengal.

From tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th November) until 10th November, cyclonic high-speed wind may blow at 50 kmph to 60 kmph and intermittently at 70 kmph in the south and the south-central Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are warned not to venture into these areas!

Fishermen who have ventures already into deep-sea areas are cautioned to return before tomorrow (9th November).

From today (Monday, 8th November) until 11th November, cyclonic high-speed winds may blow at 40 kmph to 50 kmph and intermittently at 60 kmph over the south Andhra and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu.

From today (Monday, 8th November) until tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th November), cyclonic winds may blow at high speeds at 40 kmph to 50 kmph and intermittently at 60 kmph over the southeast Bay of Bengal.

From tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th November) until 10th November, cyclonic winds at high speeds may blow at 50 kmph to 60 kmph and intermittently at 70 kmph over the south and the south-central Bay of Bengal.

Fishermen are warned NOT to venture into these areas. Fishermen in deep-sea are cautioned to return before tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th November).
