Chennai and TN to receive heavy rains to extremely heavy rains in the days to come - RMC

Chennai has been receiving heavy downpour is well known. On Tuesday, the official belonging to RMC has informed that many districts in TN would receive heavy to very heavy rains. In the days to come, the state of TN would receive more rains and this was according to RMC.

Heavy to extremely very heavy rains would be there in several coastal districts belonging to Tamil Nadu for the next 2 days and there would also be thunderstorms. It is said that the low pressure over south east Bay of Bengal would strengthen into a depression in the next 36 hours. It would reach the north coast of TN by Thursday. This was mentioned by RMC.

Districts in Tamil Nadu such as Chennai, Villupuram, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Cuddalore and Madurai would receive thunderstorm with extremely heavy rains. There would be heavy to very heavy rains in several other districts such as Tituvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Trichy, Tiruvannamalai and Puducherry.

According to Mr, N. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Center, a low pressure area has been formed due to the cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal. He added that associated cyclonic circulation extends 4.5 km above the mean sea level. In the next 36 hours, it would concentrate into depression and move west north-westwards and reach near north Tamil Nadu coast by the early 11th November morning.

It is important to note that the trough now runs from the cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal and neighborhoods of Gulf of Mannar extending up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level. Fishermen have been warned not to go into the sea for the next 24 hours.

Highest rainfall of 163 mm was recorded in Karaikal followed by Nagapattinam district with 152 mm of rainfall. This was mentioned by some officials belonging to meteorological department.
