AAVIN - 100% Uninterrupted supply of milk in Chennai and its suburbs!!

The Aavin officials have been directed by the Mr. S.M. Naser, minister for dairy development regarding the continuous functioning of dairies in places like Sholinganallur and Ambattur. He also directed the Aavin officials regarding uninterrupted supply of milk to the residents of Chennai and its suburbs.

It is well known that Aavin or TN Cooperative Milk producers Federation supplies 13.6 lakhs litres of milk everyday and of those 7.1l akh litres of milk is supplied to the milk card holders. Senior officials have been stationed at Sholinganallur and in Ambattur Aavin plants to ensure that there was no disruption in the processing or in the milk supply. This was according to the minister for dairy development. Information collected is that all the major parlours would have enough stocks of standardized milk, skimmed milk powder or SMP and UHT milk that could be consumed without boiling.

In case of flooding of roads and subways in Chennai, alternative routes are being charted for the milk supply vehicles. This was mentioned by Aavin MD Mr. K.S. Kandaswamy. The supplies would be sent quickly whenever need arises and the stocks of SMP and UHT would be kept in the zonal offices.

In case of need at the rescue centres, Aavin officials have been in contact with the officials belonging to the district administration for the supply of standardized milk, SMP and UHT milk.

It is worthy to note that when SMP milk gets supplied then explanation would be given regarding how it should be mixed with hot water to make milk. It is now revealed that the officials have been asked to keep a close eye on the Aavin’s helpline- 1800 425 3300 for any calls regarding shortage in the supply. Milk would be supplied to regular customers and retailers and steps are being taken by the private milk brands also now.

It was pointed out by an officer belong to a private milk brand that in the past week there was no major disruption in the milk supply. He added that milk has been provided to all the customers somehow. He concluded that in some pockets in north Chennai milk reaches customers with some delay
