Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast prospects for heavy rains in the next 2 days in Chennai Metro City. Prospects of heavy rains are strong in 10 other districts of Tamil Nadu as well!
Due to the phenomenon of the wind changing its directions over the southeast Arabian Sea towards Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu till the southeast Bay of Bengal, there are prospects for widespread mild to medium rains today (Tuesday, 16th November) in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry & Karaikkal.
IMD has further informed that there are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Erode, Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tirupur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, and Kallakurichi.
At present, Chennai Metro City has just been spared from heavy rains for the last 3 days which were continuous since the last few days before. However, IMD has come up now with an announcement that there are prospects for very heavy rain in Chennai Metro City!
As per IMD, apart from Chennai Metro City, there are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thu8nder in a few places in the districts of Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranippettai, Vellore, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, the Delta Districts, and Puducherry & Karaikkal
A low-pressure zone prevailed yesterday (Monday, 15th November) over the North Andaman and its adjacent regions. Due to this, the fishermen have been warned NOT to venture into the sea in the regions of the Bay of Mannar, the central-west and the southwest Bay of Bengal, Southern Andhra and Tamil Nadu coastal areas, and Karla and Karnataka coastal regions!
