Greater Chennai Corporation: 140 urban health and welfare centres to be set up under the National Health Scheme!

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials have informed that there are plans to set up 140 urban Health & Welfare Centres in Chennai Metro City under the National Health Scheme.

The Central government has allotted funds for setting up new hospitals and urban health centres in various states under the National Health Scheme.

Accordingly, it has been planned to set up 140 urban health and welfare centres in the Greater Chennai Corporation.

Further, funds have also been allotted for setting up 40 poly-clinics and 4 General Health Laboratories.

Moreover, under the Ayushman Bharath Centre, the central government has planned to set up 150000 health and welfare centres. Information is gathered that out of these, 140 health and welfare centres are to be set up in Chennai Metro City,

GCC officials have further informed that a fund of Rs. 88 Crores has been allotted for the above proposals and the activities for setting up would commence within a year!
