Guidelines for prevention of the Omcron virus spread in Chennai Metro City, especially for college students!

With the increasing trend of the Omicron variant of the raging coronavirus pandemic, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has released the guidelines for preventing the same, especially that all college students must have been administered with the double dose of anti-corona vaccines!

In the notification released by GCC in this regard, it is mentioned :

  • “All college administrations MUST ensure that the MANDATORY guidelines of students confirm they have been administered with the double dose corona vaccines! Also, wearing facial masks while attending direct classes is laudatory! It MUST also be ensured that the social distancing is observed.
  • The college administrations MUST also ensure that the college staff and workers, as well as students, have been administered with the double dose of corona vaccines.
  • No permission is given for organising any event including cultural or sports events which call for crowd gathering.
  • The college administrations MUST also ensure that the college complex is maintained clean!. While taking food in the hostels, instead of using the usual silver plates, it is recommended to use the plates made of plantain fibre which as ‘1-time-use-and-throw category!
  • Several persons using the same plate to eat is rather risky that it might almost confirm infection – hence, this MUST be avoided!
  • Air-conditioners MUST NOT be used in the classrooms!
  • Especially, all – the students, teaching staff as well other administration personnel have to undertake periodical medical check-ups.
  • The college administration MUST also ensure that the students observe and adhere to social distancing in the classrooms, library, sports grounds, laboratories, etc.  The teachers/lecturers/professors MUST ensure the students wear facial masks!
