Chennai Metro Rail: A new Project linking Chennai Airport with Kilambakkam (13 stations)!

It has been planned to set up a new Metro Rail Link between Chennai Metro City Airport and Kilambakkam for Rs. 3500 Crores.

Once the government approval is received, the plan is to set up a 15.3 km track covering the distance with 13 Railway Stations to be completed in 3 years as per the report released in this regard.

Chennai Metro Rail Company has planned to extend the current Metro operation from the Chennai Airport to Kilambakkam.

It is learnt that the project cost would be around Rs. 3500 Crores and the draft of the project report is under preparation.

This link will be on an elevated corridor.  The distance covered is 15.3 km and there would be 13 Metro Rail Stations.

More particularly, the stations would include Pallavaram, Chrompet, Tambaram, Irumbuliyur, Perungalathur, R. M. K. Nagar, Vandalur, Vandalur Zoological Park, and Kilambakkam.

Chennai Metro Rail Officials shared in this regard:

“After analysing the positive and negative features given in the draft project feasibility report, a detailed revised report will be forwarded to the State Government of Tamil Nadu.

In the project report prepared, details such as the number of Metro Rail Stations, the distance between the stations, the height of the elevated corridor track, etc., have been presented!”
