One of the largest bird called great pied hornbill, which was rescued from a house in Pudhucherry and brought to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park ( Vandalur zoo) in Chennai in 2009, was among the birds and animals which were released into new enclosures on Wednesday. Besides the great pied hornbill, three white bellied sea eagles and three mongooses were also released into new enclosures. The great pied hornbill is considered the largest member of the hornbill family. The white-bellied sea eagle is sighted in Gujarat, Mumbai, and in Lakshadweep. It resides near coastal habitats, water bodies, grassland, woodland, rainforest, and in urban areas.
