Tamil Nadu State Election Commission plans additional Vote Counting Centres!

Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has announced that the urban local administration election in Tamil Nadu State will be conducted from 7.00 AM on 19th February until 6.00 PM.

Tamil Nadu State Election Commission Pazanikumar has informed that the patients affected with the coronavirus can vote from5.00 PM to 6.00 PM. He further informed:

“21 Local major city urban administration election, 138 city administration election, and 490 towns/large cities local administration election for a total of 649 urban local administration elections will be conducted in a single phase on 19th February.

Vote Counting will be on 22nd February.”

So far, 2563 applications have been received for contesting in the above local urban administration election.

Out of these applications, 440 candidates have applied for Corporation Ward Member Posts. 803 candidates have applied for city administration ward members, and 1320 candidates have filed their nominations for major city administration Ward Member Posts.

Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has also informed that a decision has been taken to set up additional vote counting centres as a preventive measure to check/prevent the spread of the raging third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and its variant Omicron!
