The State Government of Tamil Nadu has granted permission to conduct the annual Book Fair from 16th February till 6th March!

Traditionally, the annual Book Fair will be conducted in January covering the Pongal Holidays as well!

However, due to the restrictions and regulations imposed for the prevention of the raging third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and its variant Omicron, it was postponed this year (2022).

As some relaxations have been recently announced by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, the State Government has also granted permission to conduct the Book Fair.

As such, the Book Fair will be organised from 16th February until 6th March. Due to the third wave of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, senior citizens aged above 65, pregnant women, and mothers with infants will not be allowed to enter the Book Fair.

It has also been recommended on behalf of the Tamil Nadu State Government that the tickets for the Book Fair can be issued ONLINE receiving the necessary payment online as well!

Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India ( BAPASI) representatives had visited Chief Minister M. K. Stalin at the Chef Secretariat and appealed to grant permission to organise the Annual Book Fair in February-March. As such, permission has now been given.

When meeting the Chief Mi9nister in this regard, the Vice President of BAPASI shared with the press: “The Annual Book Fair, which is traditionally conducted in January, had to be postponed this year due to the raging third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and its variant Omicron.  Due to this, books which were published for this special occasion worth Rs. 100 Crores have remained unsold! So, we had appealed to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to organise the annual Book Fair every year in February-March.“
