Joint survey was conducted by the officials belonging to GCC and the police department. In that survey as many as 1243 critical as well as vulnerable polling booths have been identified. One hundred and eight two out of identified booths were found to be critical booths.

On Thursday, 3rd February 2022 a meeting took place at Ripon Buildings and the meeting was attended by GCC commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi and the police commissioner Mr. Shankar Jiwal. For the upcoming elections, a total of 5794 polling booths have been set up.

It must be noted that the GCC zones like Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Kodambakkam, Sholinganallur and other zones etc have got critical and vulnerable booths. Point is that there would be additional security measures in these critical and vulnerable polling booths.

Based on the past law and order incidents and higher polling percentage, critical and vulnerable polling booths were identified in Chennai. Micro observers would be appointed by the GCC and arrangements would be made for web streaming at these critical and vulnerable polling booths. To avoid cash movement, the number of flying squad teams would be increased on 17th of February.
