The meteorological centre has mentioned that today there are chances of rains in southern districts belonging to Tamil Nadu. The director of the meteorological research centre in Chennai, Mr. Senthamarai Kannan has stated that due to the prevailing atmospheric downward air rotation from Maldives to North coastal Karnataka there would be light to moderate rains in one or two places belonging to south TN districts today. On 15th, 16th and 17th February, the weather would be mostly dry in TN, Puducherry and Karaikal etc.
In Chennai, for the next 2 days, the weather would be cloudy and the maximum temperature would be around 31 degrees Celsius, minimum temperature would be around 23 degrees Celsius. In the 24 hours till 8:30 am on 13th February, Nagapattinam district had the highest rain of 8cms, Thirukuvalai had 6cms. It is important to note that places in Nagapattinam district like Thirupoondi, Velankanni and Kanniyakumari district’s Paechipaarai and Thiruthuraipoondi of Thiruvarur district received 5cms of rain.
