In the right upper abdomen and below the right lobe of liver, is present a small pear shaped organ of 7 to 10cm length and this is gallbladder and it is green in colour. Liver produces excess bile and this excess bile gets stored in the gallbladder. It is known that the bile that is produced by the liver helps the body digest fats. For the digestion of fatty meals, hormones stimulate the gallbladder to contract and release extra bile. The presence of gall bladder stones could be an important reason for the gallbladder pain. It is noteworthy that due to the presence of gallbladder stones the gallbladder wont function properly in some persons. Various symptoms of gallbladder issues are frequent pain, vomiting, nausea, stool abnormalities, dark coloured urine etc.
There are various other factors that could lead to gallbladder pain in us and these are
Cholecystitis:
Inflammation is caused by the presence of gallbladder stones and this could lead to severe pain in the gallbladder. There are 2 types of cholecystitis and they are acute cholecystitis and acalculous cholecystitis. It must be noted that acute cholecystitis occurs when gallstone gets struck in the gallbladder. Bacterial infection in the bile duct would lead to acalculous cholecystitis.
Choledocholiathiasis:
Choledocholiathiasis refers to the presence of gallstone in the bile duct. The person with this issue would have restricted bile flow and there would be increased pressure and severe pain. It must be noted that the person might experience jaundice or yellowing of eyes and skin etc.
Biliary sludge:
This biliary sludge could also be another reason for the gallbladder pain in us. It is nothing but composition of cholesterol monohydrate crystals, calcium bilirubin and other calcium salts present in the gallbladder. It is believed that the deposition of these could result in similar symptoms and complications like gallstones.
Functional gallbladder disease or FGD:
This FGD would affect the gallbladder and sphincter of Oddi or hepatopancreatic sphincter. Point is that this is a muscular valve that would control the flow of digestive juices out of pancreas into the second part of duodenum. It is important to mention here that persons with FGD experience gallbladder pain without any presence of gall bladder stone.
Gallstones:
This issue could affect a person of any age group. The presence of gallstones could lead to severe gallbladder pain. The person might have a big single stone or small multiple stones in them. There are also chances to develop gallbladder stones without any symptom or pain also. Information is that the presence of large gallstones would obstruct the gallbladder neck and this would lead to gallbladder getttting filled up with mucus or pus. This would happen if the obstruction persists along with the abdomen pain.
How to treat the pain due to gallbladder stones:
The person with pain due to gallbladder stones must avoid eating fatty meals intake. Antibiotics and painkillers could also provide a solution for the pain. It would also be possible to treat a person with gallbladder pain by IV fluids, antacids etc.
