After 3 months in Chennai, many people are happy and relieved now!!

After the steep increase in the Covid-10 infections the district of Chennai reported fewer than 100 cases and this had caught the attention of many. Chennai district had 96 Coronavirus cases on Monday, 28th February after 3 months. This has made many feel happy and relieved.

Chennai district has been recording more Covid-19 infections when compared to other districts belonging to Tamil Nadu. This has been happening ever since the health department started issuing district wise infection data from May 2020. In the Coronavirus infection, the first wave in 2020 Chennai district was severely affected with many cases.

It must be taken into note that between the second wave and third wave the number of cases came down to 96 for a day in the month of November 2021. The number of cases was around 99 for some time and later it increased drastically in the third Coronavirus infection wave. Point is that yesterday there was no death due to Coronavirus infection and 238 patients got discharged after recovering from the infection. In Chennai district as many as 1372 persons are still undergoing treatment for this rapid spreading infection.

The bulletin from the Directorate of Public Health had mentioned that as many as749946 persons have been infected with SARS- CoV2 and as many as 739512 persons have been discharged.

There are 8055 oxygen beds in Chennai district and out of those 7854 are vacant and out of 3593 ordinary beds as many as 3508 beds are vacant now. Out of a total of 1991 beds in ICU, 1924 beds are vacant.  It is worthy to note that the number of Covid-19 cases come down below 400 in TN now. There are many hospitals in TN that do not even have a single admission due to this infection.

Yesterday in Tamil Nadu 55994 samples were tested for the infections and no cases were reported from 6 districts like Villupuram, Tirunelveli, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur and Tenkasi. On 25th January the TPR was at 20.2% in TN and on 28th February TPR was 0.655 only. On 22nd January, the third Coronavirus infection wave reached its peak with as many as 30744 cases in a day.
