What is the reason for the commuters problems at the Velachery MRTS?

The Mass Rapid Transit System or MRTS station in Velachery is making news for the wrong reason now!!
More than 2 years back, a contractor was assigned here for 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers parking. It is brought out that the commuters park their vehicles on the by-lanes and in the old parking lot. These commuters are worried about the theft of their vehicles at this important station.
As per a resident of Velachery and a regular user of MRTS it was clear that the contract expired in October 2019 and it was not renewed still. He threw light on how the commuters park their vehicles free of cost wherever they liked and this has been creating issues for others. There is no regulation here and anti-social activities take place in the MRTS station during the night. It is learnt that tipplers park their vehicles in the parking lot and they drink creating nuisance. The parking of the vehicles by the commuters in a zig-zag manner during the day time blocks the way for others.
It was mentioned by another commuter that it took a lot of time to move other vehicles and to take her vehicle on Friday. Instead of encouraging public transport, it seems the state has been making many not to prefer public transport because of these issues in the MRTS station in Velachery. There is another parking lot in the north side of the Velachery MRTS station and that is being used by those commuters from places like Madipakkam, Adambakkam, Puzhuthivakkam etc. The commuters from these places have to take a long detour. If the contract lot had operated, then the administration could have earned Rs 30000 per day. The multi level parking project was responsible for the delay and this was pointed out by an official belonging to railways.
